commentary:
I remember this watercolor throughout my growing up at 409 Harrison Ave, American Fork, Utah. Gran-ma Louise must have visited the year after we moved into the newly constructed house (I was a one year old baby when it was painted). Looking out the dining room window past the backyard and across the barbed wire fence you could see Farmer Jone’s field with this root cellar blocking the view of his house and barn. This was the edge of town. Twenty years after leaving home and desiring something to remind me of my childhood there, only two things came to mind: this watercolor and the German beer stein that Mom’s brother Joe had brought back from WWII which had resided on top of the piano with “treasures” in it. Fond memories bubble up while gazing at this painting. Ralph E. Huntzinger
