Luez (Martha Louise Sessions Huntzinger)

Luez (Martha Louise Sessions Huntzinger) (1887 – 1976)

Martha Louise and her six children left Thatcher AZ and moved to Los Angeles in 1926, so she could attend “the State University in Los Angeles to prepare for art teaching in public schools” (grad June 1932).  She created art throughout her life.

When visiting her children’s family she would work on art pieces using material that they supplied.  This is why many pieces are owned by different family groups.  Besides sketches and paintings she also created decorated eggs, paper sculptures, and other fragile items that did not survive.

Martha Louise signed her works “Luez”.  We have works dated 1947 although many probably are earlier.
